Dean Baker, board trustee, was born and raised in Naples and has a long history of community service in the basin. He has served his hometown as mayor for 20 years, as well as on the city council. In these roles, he worked with AVWSID closely and felt he needed a more comprehensive understanding of its operations. So, he ran for the board to bring that knowledge of his work in Naples and to represent the smaller towns outside of Vernal. Dean also sits on the Vernal Chamber of Commerce, Uintah Water Conservancy District board, Utah Public Community Impact Board, and previously represented Uintah and Duchesne Counties with the Utah League of Cities and Towns. This municipal experience is invaluable to the AVWSID board in facilitating relationships with local cities and towns.
