Job Title: Receptionist

Reports To: Assistant District Manager & District Manager

Pay Range: $16 - $19 per hour DOE

Position Summary

The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for customers and visitors at Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District. This position is responsible for answering phones, greeting visitors, assisting customers with billing inquiries, processing payments, scheduling service orders, maintaining office records, handling mail, and performing other administrative tasks as assigned. The Receptionist ensures excellent customer service and supports the efficient operation of the district office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·        Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to appropriate staff members.

·        Greet visitors and provide assistance or information as needed.

·        Assist customers with billing inquiries and account questions.

·        Process payments received in person, by mail, or electronically.

·        Provide daily reconciliation of all cash drawers, and reconciliation of all payment types.

·        Be proficient in handling cash payments, including the ability to count change back.

·        Must be proficient in deescalating angry customers, explaining policy, and exploring solutions within pre-defined restraints.

·        Schedule service orders and coordinate with field crews for timely completion.

·        Maintain accurate office records, including customer files and transaction logs.

·        Handle incoming and outgoing mail and distribute to appropriate departments.

·        Assist with preparation of monthly billing statements and reports.

·        Provide general administrative support, including filing, data entry, and document preparation.

·        Perform other duties as assigned to support office operations.

Minimum Qualifications

·        Education: High School Diploma or GED (required).

·        Experience: Previous experience in customer service or administrative roles preferred.

·        Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

·        Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, and other technology equipment.

·        Licenses: Valid Utah Driver’s License preferred.

Physical & Working Conditions

·        General office environment with occasional lift of up to 25 lbs.

·        Regular interaction with the public, staff, and other entity representatives.
